Christy Crkvenac, Founder/President, Fulcrum Pharmacy. After working as regional director for a large national long-term care pharmacy company, Christy Crkvenac saw an opportunity to offer better service to special needs clients who had long been underserved by long-term care and chain retail pharmacies. She assembled a staff of pharmacists and professionals who had more than six decades of combined experience, and established Fulcrum Pharmacy in 2003. Five years later, Christy added another pharmacy-based business, Radius Rx Direct, similar to the original Fulcrum but offering services to a broader population of special needs clients. Radius expanded its service menu to include specialized and customized services to meet the unique needs of agencies that serve clients in Delaware. They include people with mental or behavioral health issues, physical disabilities, substance abuse challenges, and those in correctional facilities or homeless shelters. Now in its eighth year, Fulcrum fills thousands of prescriptions each month. The companies are shining examples of how health care service can be improved through best practices and innovation without increasing costs. With the help of SCORE counseling and a $200,000 SBA-guaranteed 7(a) loan, Christy’s businesses have managed an average annual growth rate of 13 percent and an increase in jobs from six to 29 employees.
