Chapel Hill High School, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Chapel Hill students beat out the competition in DoSomething.org and HP's Green Your School Challenge. They installed motion-sensitive light switches in teacher lounges. Students held "Earth Week 2011" which included events such as Recycling Spies Day (reward people seen recycling), dressing up as an oil spill (black plastic bag dress with images and text pertaining to oil spill), Power Down Day encouraging teachers to turn off the lights all day, and hosting a eco-carnival with games and trivia related to climate change. Students received a $1000 grant and a brand new HP laptop to strengthen future work.
