Becky Martinez, Middle School ELA Teacher and Instructional Coach, Bruce Randolph School.
Becky Martinez has taught middle school language arts and humanities since 1997 in a variety of contexts spanning suburban Houston, inner-city Oakland, and a Pacific atoll. She currently serves teachers and students as an instructional coach at Bruce Randolph School in Denver, Colorado where measuring teacher effectiveness is in the forefront of educators’ minds since the passing of Senate Bill 191. She works to embed effective instruction, which yields equal access to concept mastery and skill proficiency, within a curriculum that pays respect to our students’ cultural identities, sense of justice, and capacities to engage democratically as agents for change. She participated in NBC's Education Nation Summit last year. Her school was selected by New Leaders for New Schools as an EPIC school and is participating in research on practices that are leading to strong learning gains. She has a B.S. In Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University and an M.A. In Curriculum and Teacher Education from Stanford University.
