White House InstaMeet
On the weekend of October 3-4, people all over the world will meet up and take photos together as part of the 12th Worldwide InstaMeet. To celebrate, we're inviting some of our Instagram followers to filter their way through the White House and share its history, art, and architecture with their followers. The 2nd White House InstaMeet will take place on Saturday, October 3 in the afternoon.
How do I register?
Registration opens at WhiteHouse.gov/social at 10:00 a.m. ET on Friday, September 18 and closes on Monday, September 21 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Please note: Invitations are non-transferable and we can not accommodate guests.
What is White House Social?
A White House Social is an in-person meeting of people who engage with the White House through social media. Building off of the White House Tweetup series, the White House invites people that follow with us online to join us for offline events.
Past White House Social events have included a State of the Union Social, a Let's Move! Tweetup for the garden harvest, a Republic of Korea Arrival Ceremony Tweetup, a Holiday Open House, a United Kingdom Arrival Ceremony Tweetup, a Google+ Photowalk, and many others.
Do I need to have a social media account to register?
Yes, this event is designed for people who regularly interact with the White House via Instagram. Registration is open to those who are active users on Instagram and who follow official White House accounts.
What are the registration requirements?
Registration indicates your intent to travel to the White House in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, October 3 to attend the White House InstaMeet in person. You will bear any costs associated with travel and lodging. All guests will be required to present a valid, government-issued photo identification (detailed here).
What if I cannot come to Washington, D.C.?
If you cannot come to the White House in Washington, D.C. to attend in person, you should not register for this event. You can follow updates from the event on the #WHInstaMeet hashtag. Check back on WhiteHouse.gov/social and follow @WhiteHouse on Twitter for updates on upcoming engagement opportunities.
When will I know if I am selected?
The White House will contact applicants via email with additional instructions for those that have been invited or added to the waitlist. If you have been selected, you will be notified no later than Friday, September, 25.
