Take the White House Healthy Campus Challenge

Thank you for your interest in taking the 2016 White House Healthy Campus Challenge. The goal of the Challenge is to reach uninsured individuals on your campus and in your surrounding community by engaging students, faculty and staff, campus administration, alumni, local community leaders, and elected officials. Participating campuses are asked to undertake a number of outreach actions, discussed below, which reflect best practices for how to get the word out about affordable health care options.

This fall and throughout the Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment period (November 1, 2016 - January 31, 2017), the White House, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Education will highlight college and university campuses, and in particular community college campuses, that are participating in the Healthy Campus Challenge. We are looking for campuses that are spreading the word about open enrollment and opportunities to find affordable, quality coverage in the Marketplace to people on their campus and in their broader community.

The 2016 White House Healthy Campus Challenge builds on the successful 2015 White House Healthy Communities Challenge, in which Milwaukee – the challenge winner – saw about 38,000 people newly select a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace during the open enrollment period.

Each campus that completes the below form will be connected with a White House point of contact (POC) to provide technical assistance as they engage in actions to reach their campus and broader community. If you have questions regarding the Challenge, please e-mail GetCovered@who.eop.gov.

On or after December 15th – the deadline for Marketplace coverage starting January 1st – participating campuses will confirm that they have taken all Challenge actions with their White House POC. Once campuses verify that they have completed all actions, they will be deemed a White House Healthy Campus. They will be recognized with a certificate signed by the President and will be entered into a lottery for a chance to be recognized during Healthy Campus Day at the White House in January.
