Vice President Joe Biden Visits China
Vice President Joe Biden traveled to China at the invitation of Vice President Xi Jinping in the first of planned reciprocal visits announced earlier this year in Washington, D.C. by President Barack Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao.
While in Beijing, Vice President Biden met with Vice President Xi, President Hu, Premier Wen Jiabao and other US and Chinese business leaders to discuss a full range of bilateral and economic issues. The Vice President also visited the city of Chengdu, where he delivered a speech on US-China relations at Sichuan University. He concluded his travels to Dujiangyan, a city in Sichuan province that was severely damaged in the May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. There, he was joined Vice President Xi in a meeting with high school students and a visit to an irrigation system.
