Secretary Of State Hillary Rodham Clinton Tours Africa

Hillary Rodham Clinton is the most traveled U.S. Secretary of State in history, having logged visits to 108 different countries so far. Most recently her travels took her to Africa where she visited 10 nations over the course of 12 days, including the first ever visit of a U.S. Secretary of State to Malawi. During the trip, Secretary Clinton reinforced diplomatic relations and visited non-governmental organization (NGO) relief programs. At each stop she spoke on the principles of democracy and the value of strong governmental institutions. Late in the trip a visit to Turkey was added to the schedule, which allowed Secretary Clinton to meet with Syrian refugees and opposition leaders as well as Turkish leaders to discuss concerns over the ongoing conflict in Syria.
