In a time-honored tradition dating back to the 19th century, each Thanksgiving the President “pardons” a hand-selected turkey. Since 1947, the chairman of the National Turkey Federation has presented a turkey to the President for national, official pardon. Just before the holiday, the President graces that turkey with the right to live out the rest of its days peacefully on a farm.
And this year is no different -- President Obama is celebrating the 68th anniversary of the National Thanksgiving Turkey presentation. For the last several years we've been asking the American public to cast a vote online for which of two turkeys gets to take home the title. This year, you can vote on Twitter using the poll below.
This year's name choices were submitted by schoolchildren in California. Now its up to you to vote for who will hold the title of National Thanksgiving Turkey, Honest or Abe. (And for the faint of heart out there, no matter who takes the title, both will enjoy the safety and luxury of a farm in Virginia.)
Take the poll and vote for your favorite on Twitter here.
